"Father of Fathers
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father.
O Lord, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can withstand You. We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us what You did in their days, in days long ago. In You our fathers put their trust; they trusted and You delivered them. They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul.
But now, O Lord, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and Thou art our potter; and we all are the work of Thy Hand. A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him? After this manner therefore pray ye: 'Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed by Thy name.' For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, 'Abba, Father.'
May He turn our hearts to Him, to walk in all His ways and to keep the commands, decrees, and regulations He gave our fathers. Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in His holiness. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected then for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live!
May the Lord our God be with us as He was with our fathers; may He never leave us nor forsake us. Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.
