"BELIEVING IN A MIRACLE
Let me begin by stating a principle of procedure for those who would experience victory in life: 'Maintain what yoiu have, but contend for more.' I want to be content, but never want to feel like I'm finished.
You've probably heard the expression, 'Battle Fatigue.' It has its roots in warfare. Weariness develops after being in the thick of battle so long without experiencing a victory. One of the most difficult questions we must ask ourselves is, 'How long am I willing to fight for that?' For me, it's answered by another question: 'How long am I willing to believe for that?'
The duration of our contending is directly related to our attitude and our confession. I can only contend for something as long as, in my mind, I believe God wants me to. Whether in healing, business, marriage, or direction... giving up always seems to be the easy way. Endurance generally requires determination and disciplined decisions.
Let me suggest four basic essentials for victory:
1. Attitude - Joshua 1:9
2. Confession - Joshua 6:3-5
3. Faith - Joshua 2 (Rahab)
4. Obedience - Joshua 8
The scripture exhorts us to stand and see the salvation of the Lord (Exodus 14:13). True victory always finds its roots in obedience. Miracle-life is released through faith and is for the purpose of victory. In Joshua chapter 10, Joshua commanded the sun to stand still because they weren't finished with the battle. [What I believe] He was actually saying [is], 'I won't quit or give up until I see complete victory.'
The sun standing still is the lesser miracle. The greater miracle is that God's power is available to you or to anyone who is in the middle of a battle and is unwilling to give place to fatigue or weariness, and will contend for complete victory. This portion of scripture sounds forth with one firm declaration. We will not accept anything less than total victory and will continue to believe for exactly that.
